Best Date Spots in DC!
Piggybacking off all the Valentine’s love from last week, let’s talk about how we can all continue the romance further. There’s a wide array of different types of restaurants that can be perfect for dating. Whether you need to know where to grab casual dinner/drinks, a boozy (but not too boozy) brunch, or an over-the-top luxuriously romance-fest dinner, we got you covered. The FITgals have selected specific FIT menu items at their local favorite spots that will make it easy to stick to your diet while having fun!
Casual Dinner and Drinks
For this night out you want something more laid back, less uptight and probably where you would go with your boo if you just had a particularly trying Wednesday and need a high quality IPA and some great food to relax. The Passenger is known for well-made cocktails, a great vibe, and a surprisingly awesome selection of food is basically all you need when you’re spending quality time with your significant other. It’s the type of place where you can go up to the bartender and give them some vague description of a drink you like i.e. “umm it has St. Germain and it is fruity or something? I think?” and they’ll make you something amazing.

It should be a surprise to no one that DC is obsessed with tapas/small plates restaurants. This type of restaurant can be great for a date since it encourages sharing with each other. And bonus: smaller portions! Co Co. Sala is a great spot for a cocktail and small plates AND if you feel like being decadent, they specialize in chocolate.
FITpick: Alisar Cocktail with Svedka Citron, Diced Cucumber and Fresh Lime Juice along with the Tuna Tartare.
If you’re craving the typical Spanish tapas, skip La Tasca and Jaleo and go for the more authentic Estadio in Logan Circle.
FITpicks: Scallops, Roasted Cauliflower & Salbitxada, fava-bean spread, & roasted wild mushrooms

This is DC, so of course brunch should always be an option on the table for any weekend outing. Marvin is not only one of our favorite late-night spots on U street, but also great for brunch with their unique specialization in belgian soul food. Named for the late, great Marvin Gaye, the decor and vibe definitely exude that sexiness you might want on a date and you’ll probably find a similar crowd of young, hip, beautiful urbanites that frequent this place at night.
FITpick: Marvin omelette without the homefries (sub in a side salad).
If you want to go a little more casual and out-of-the-way try Montmartre on Capitol Hill. Classical French can’t really be beat for daytime romance.
FITpick: Belgium Endive Salad and Artic Char

There are a ton of high-class, high-quality restaurants in DC so if you’re trying to pick a place for an over-the-top special occasion date you won’t have a hard time. Rasika is one that always comes on lists of the best restaurants in DC and it has great date ambience as well. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance because both locations of this restaurant book up quickly. At least it will give you time to fit into your favorite LBD!
FITpick: the Black Cod.
If ethnic food isn’t your thing, the Blue Duck Tavern is definitely pricey but this DC mainstay is worth every penny.
