Happy New Year 2015

If you have been following this blog for the whole year…well first, THANK YOU, but secondly, you know we don’t believe in the whole “new year, new you” resolution-thing. We believe that you should be taking care of yourself year round, and not set unrealistic expectations or set yourself up for failure.

That being said, now is as good a time as any to start eating whole, fresh foods in moderation and to start moving and grooving!

Here are a few tips from blogs that inspire us and will hopefully inspire you too:

1. The GOOP detox. Don’t worry – it includes food. You don’t have to stick with the menu they provide perfectly, but use the menu plan as a guide. After the excess of the holidays, we can all use a little reminder to up the veggie intake, cut the processed foods and sugar, and limit (or ideally remove – at least during the week) the alcohol.

2. AKT InMotion IN DC!! Need some exercise inspiration? You know we love Anna Kaiser and her studio AKT InMotion and now you can take a class with her. Hurry over to Gilt City, Washington DC and book a class with Anna herself!

3. Top TIPS from HuffPo: like vary your workouts, get more sleep, and commit to changing one thing about your diet (maybe kicking soda to the curb for good??) We also recommend putting in an hour “lunch” break 3 days a week so you can either get to the gym or take a walk. Even just walking for 30 minutes on the treadmill is better than nothing and you won’t even have to shower after. The fact is, if you schedule these breaks in advance, co-workers are less likely to schedule meetings during a blocked out period. It is also a good reminder to take that needed break for yourself.

Happy New Year fellow FIT readers! And don’t forget, scheduling time with a trainer and/or nutritionist to set goals, come up with an exercise¬†program, and talk about meal planning is always an option. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you make 2015 the year of healthy, maintainable, and manageable lifestyle changes.
