Marathon Monday


I love this article from Runner’s World about the 10 Signs your body shows when it needs rest! 


It is Week 3 into my marathon training, and I want to stress the importance of taking time to allow your body to rest. My schedule has been pretty rigorous, alternating between long runs (6-8 miles) and shorter runs (3-4 miles). The runs haven’t been what I’m struggling with, but instead, I have had a hard time allowing myself to take a a day off. Each week my schedule allows me two days off. It is hard to come to terms with the idea that resting maybe more beneficial than a workout, but your body needs time to “adapt to the stress of your training—you will not get stronger or faster.” We all need to listen to our body and know the difference between good pain and bad pain.  The best rest comes from the hardest workout… so stay motivated, hydrated, and energized to indulge in your R&R!
